Learn More About Sunflower Nursery
Our nursery and curriculum are built around the ideals and philosophies of Montessori education. We passionately believe that by following this approach combined with the EYFS National Curriculum, we are providing the very best in childcare for your little ones and invite you to learn more about us and how we do things here at Sunflower Nursery.
Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.

At Sunflower Montessori Nursery We Always Aim to:
- Enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent involving, community-based group.
- Provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for every child.
- Work within a framework, which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families so that the children feel valued as individuals each with their own experiences and needs.
- Encourage independence and have happy, confident and well-balanced children – play is as unsupervised as we can allow, however, we help the children to be able to accept certain rules of behaviour and not to abuse the freedom of other children. Our environment, which promotes individual choice, also relies heavily on collective responsibility.
- Promote the three prime areas and four specific areas of learning, development and welfare by putting the principles of the EYFS into practice without compromising our Montessori approach – to build on what they can already do and to match the different levels of needs, interests and abilities to activities as we are looking at each child as an individual. We aim to prepare children for life, not school, but we recognise that school is a part of life. We feed into a variety of schools and do not compromise our Montessori principles just to suit a particular educational ethos.
- Be committed to continually update staff training in order to provide the children with learning experiences of the highest quality.

Meet Our Wonderful Team

It is hard to express how much I love my job, my nursery staff and children are like my second family! Watching the children develop and flourish is the most rewarding part of the job, knowing that my team and I have had an impact on the first few years of a child's life.

Having been a parent of a child in this setting, I am a huge advocate of Sunflower Nursery. The team is great and always goes above and beyond which creates a very happy and positive work environment.
Hannah Isherwood

I have been working in early years since 2018 as I find this job so rewarding. I love how we support the children to learn, develop and prepare for school. Being able to build relationships with the children and their families makes it a positive place to work.
Evie Franz

Having been involved with Sunflower Nursery since 1987, first as a parent and then as a staff member, I have seen many changes but the one thing that has remained constant is the joy of watching the children blossom, a truly rewarding experience.

I'm currently on maternity leave and enjoying this amazing journey with my family.

I come to work every day because the environment we create for our children is just lovely. Watching the children grow from babies until they go to school is so rewarding and makes me very proud.

I love that no two days are the same working in childcare, it is a job full of worthwhile challenges! There is so much joy observing children exploring the world and being witness to their growth of character!
